Looking for a Local Oganiser in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka:
We are looking for a local organiser in Tokyo,
Here is a short description of Home Language International and what being a local organiser for us is about:
Home Language International is the largest organisation offering language learning in the teacher’s home.
We depend on travel agents and other scholastic agents to recruit students for us. Every year over 6000 students from all over the world visit over 30 countries and more than 110 regions. They learn the language of their choice, isolated from their mother tongue and live in the home of a qualified teacher receiving lessons on a one-to-one basis. This system was created in 1979 by our Chief Executive, Ian Josephs, M.A. (OXFORD) and our experience over a long period has enabled us to recruit more than 3,000 qualified teacher families worldwide.
As a local organiser you or the person would be compensated $200 per student per week. Therefore $600 for a student coming for 3 weeks, a local organiser takes care of 20 to 200 booking yearly.
In short, the duties as a Local Organiser are firstly to recruit host families, preferably through the internet (socials media, online advertising etc… but also via newspaper adverts, universities, local community centre boards etc.
A teacher must have a university degree or state teaching certificate and be capable of giving individual English lessons to one student (adult or child). They should have a pleasant accommodation with a room for the student and should be willing to share mealtimes with the student as well. The house must be inspected by you initially for cleanliness and a nice atmosphere and the family must then be visited every 2 years.
It is essential that we can contact you at any time in case there is an emergency, when a student has to change families or if they are ill and they have to go home. Your job, once you have recruited families (which you can do in your own time whenever you like) is to send us the profile of the families and when we send you a profile of the student, you have to place the student in a family that is free at the time and that you consider most suitable for the student.
You do not have to visit the student during the stay, unless requested to do so. But you do have to contact the student by telephone after the first day or two and ask if everything is ok. Most students will stay with a host family for 1-3 weeks, occasionally 4 or more.
All these duties appear to be complicated but they are incredibly simple and require only common sense. They are things you would already know, but we point them out only for your guidance.
This is not the sort of job that is full-time but the great advantage of this work is that the local organiser can choose exactly when they want to visit families and when to make phone calls. This work particularly suits retired people but it is also very easy to combine these activities with a full time job or with looking after a family at home.
